Forge Counseling

Reshape your future.

About Me

My name is Kyle, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I've been practicing since 2021, working with adolescents and adults. I recently founded Forge Counseling to bring this work under a name that reflects what therapy is: the process of reshaping your future through the hard, deliberate work of change.

I'm certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy designed to treat PTSD, anxiety, and trauma by helping the brain reprocess distressing memories. I use a mixture of modalities to best help each individual client and build skills that hold up outside the therapy room.

I believe therapy only works when there's a real relationship. I focus on building trust and rapport from the start. The first few sessions are about getting to know you, understanding your goals, and figuring out the best way forward together.

A big part of my work is destigmatizing men's mental health. As men, we're often told to toughen up, push through, or figure it out on our own. I'm here to help change that narrative by creating a space where men can express emotions openly without judgment.

My style is straightforward and honest. I don't sugarcoat things, but I also don't push you where you're not ready to go. Clients have told me this approach helps them feel supported while also making real progress.

I have worked in high-acuity environments with clients facing some of the most severe mental health challenges. That experience taught me how to stay grounded, think clearly, and respond effectively no matter what comes up in session. I feel confident handling whatever you bring to therapy, whether it is PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, or depression. You do not have to hold back here. I am ready to meet you where you are.

Services

Individual Therapy (Telehealth)

I provide one-on-one therapy for adolescents and adults navigating mental health issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Sessions are held virtually across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, making it easy to connect from wherever you are. My focus is on building a real working relationship first, then tackling the deeper stuff together at a pace that works for you. I don't believe in rushing someone into vulnerability before there's a real therapeutic relationship. Every client comes in with a different history and a different pace, and I adjust my approach accordingly rather than running the same playbook for everyone. The goal is to build skills and insight that carry over into your daily life, not just yap for an hour.

Men's Mental Health

Much of my work focuses on helping men break free from the stigma around mental health. Most of us were raised on some version of toughen up, push through, or figure it out on your own. This works until it doesn’t (spoiler alert: it always breaks down). I provide a space where men can express emotions without judgment and learn healthier ways to cope with stress, anger, and relationships. This isn't about tearing down who you are, it's about giving you more tools than just shutting down or gritting your teeth through it. A lot of men come in not fully sure what therapy is supposed to look like for them, and that's a fine place to start. The work is about building a fuller range of ways to handle what life brings, not fitting into a mold of what strength is supposed to look like.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a practical, goal-oriented therapy that helps you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns. Together we will look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact and build healthier ways of coping. CBT can be especially effective for anxiety, depression, and ADHD, particularly when the same thought loops keep showing up and getting in the way of daily life. This isn't about forcing positivity or ignoring real problems, it's about noticing where your thinking might be working against you and building more accurate, useful ways to respond. We'll work on real strategies you can actually use outside of session, not just concepts that sound good in the room. Progress here tends to be concrete and trackable, which a lot of clients find motivating.

Adolescent Therapy

Working with teenagers has been the core of my practice for years, across behavioral day school programs, children's partial hospital programs, and private schools. I have worked with nearly every kind of challenge a teenager can walk in with. Adolescence comes with real pressure from all areas: school, identity, family dynamics, social relationships, and a nervous system that's still figuring itself out. Teenagers are constantly managing expectations from parents, themselves, and everywhere else. I work with families too, but I don't automatically side with parents just because they're the ones who set up the appointment. My focus is to help the whole family communicate better, not act as an extension of parental authority in the room. Confidentiality reflects that in that parents get information only when the client wants it shared. Teenagers stay in control of their own treatment, and that trust is what makes the work possible in the first place.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from trauma and distressing experiences. EMDR reduces the emotional weight of painful memories so they no longer control how you feel in the present. If you feel stuck in the past, unable to move forward no matter how much you've tried to think your way through it, EMDR works differently than traditional talk therapy. It targets how a memory is stored in the brain rather than just discussing it, which is often why it can create movement where other approaches have stalled. Sessions are structured but paced around what you can handle, nothing happens before you're ready for it. Many clients are surprised by how much shifts once a specific memory stops carrying the same charge it used to.
